After School Teacher

The After-School Enrichment Teacher is a part-time position responsible for running after-school applied technology classes for children in grades 1 to 8. We provide all curriculum, as well as full training on curriculum and operations. This job offers satisfying work with highly engaged and motivated kids, competitive pay, and lots of opportunities to pick up new technology skills. Use of a personal vehicle is required (mileage expenses are reimbursed).

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, after-school hours starting after 2pm, total 5-15 hrs/week. Potential Summer full-time work as Camp Counselor.

Locations: We currently have openings for teachers located near Boston suburbs to the South and SW of the city.

Requirements:

  • Must have experience working with children in an educational or enrichment setting
  • Fluency and general comfort with computers, multimedia, and software
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness in unexpected situations
  • Media literacy
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Reliable vehicle is a MUST
  • Commitment to the chosen schedule for the duration of at least 8 weeks.

Technician Intern

Children's Technology Workshop programs run year-round, offering classes, workshops, camps, birthday parties and other opportunities for young learners to explore applied technologies. We operate mobile laptop labs throughout Greater Boston, MA. We are looking for jack-of-all-trades technical intern to support our teaching and office staff with existing hardware and software tools, and continuously look for ways to improve our process. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems but is also comfortable assisting non-technical staff.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • troubleshooting hardware and software issues by phone and in person
  • configuration and imaging of existing Windows XP laptops
  • configuration of wireless routers and access points
  • configuration and maintenance of network drives and printers
  • installation and maintenance of software
  • tracking and inventory of equipment and issues
  • tracking and inventory of software licenses
  • purchase recommendations
  • travel to locations to troubleshoot hardware and software issues
  • supporting staff with training and documentation on using company tools and resources

Desired skills:

 

  • Windows OS
  • Networking & WiFi
  • PC hardware
  • Helpdesk support

 

Hours are flexible, and may range between 5 and 20 hours per week. This is a long-term part-time opportunity. This position does not offer vacation or health benefits. You must have your own vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed).

Teaching Intern

Children's Technology Workshop programs run year-round, offering classes, workshops, camps, birthday parties and other opportunities for young learners to explore applied technologies. We operate mobile laptop labs throughout Greater Boston, MA. We are looking for future educators who are looking to gain hands-on experience with technology and engineering tools that can be applied in the classeroom. Interns will work with children at the elementary and middle-school level, guiding them to complete projects in robotics, video game design, animation video production, digital audio, architectore, digital art, and other areas.

Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • prompt arrival for all sessions
  • participating in all staff training sessions
  • working with whole group, small groups, and individual students
  • assisting other staff as needed

 

Desired background:

 

  • prior work with children
  • interest in technology applied to teaching
  • basic familiarity with computers (Windows)
  • high energy level

 

You MUST be able to reliably travel to camp locations throughout the greater boston area.
